What’s in Your Pantry Can Determine the Outcome of Healing Your Chronic Illness
Your gut is the gateway to optimal health and what you keep in your pantry {or refrigerator} is the catalyst to excellent gut health or awful gut health and consequently, the progression of your chronic illness or the healing of it.
Overhaul Your Pantry to Heal Your Chronic Illness
Before we get into the details of just how to overhaul your pantry, it’s extremely important to understand what your “gut” consists of and why it plays an important role in whether you can get rid of the symptoms of your chronic illness. Additionally, it’s crucial to connect the role of the food you eat to your gut health.
The Gut is Made up of the Following:
- Mouth
- Esophagus
- Stomach
- Small and Large Intestines
- Colon
- Gallbladder
- Liver
- Pancreas
Each of these organs plays a significant role in your overall health.
Why Optimal Gut Health is Important
Your gut is directly connected to your nervous system and immune system. In turn, your immune system, if malfunctioning, is what causes chronic illness or autoimmunity.
It’s been found that 70-90% of your immunity resides in your gut!
For example, in the case of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, until healed, the gut is always “leaky” letting foreign antigens through the intestinal barrier, which, in turn, cause your body to attack the thyroid gland because it mistakes the thyroid tissue as a foreign antigen. In other words, the immune system gets really confused and the catalyst is poor gut health – or leaky gut.
To prevent or remit chronic illness, you have to heal your gut.
In Addition to a Pantry Overhaul, The Following Can Heal Your Gut and Remit Chronic Illness
All of this tissue and these organs {mentioned above} need to be well cared for in order for your chronic illness to heal. To care for these organs you’ve got make sure you eliminate chemicals in your toiletries and cosmetics, get plenty of high-quality sleep, manage your stress wisely, and eliminate toxins from the cleaners you use. Additionally, you’ll need to make sure you don’t have any infections (even silent ones) and, of course, eat foods that nourish the gut and feed the good bacteria that reside in the small and large intestines and colon.
The Food in Your Pantry
In caring for your gut, the type, quality and nutrient density of the food you eat matters in a big way! For healing chronic illness, it’s important to eliminate foods that inflame the gut and feed the fire which attack your own organs.
How to Know if Your Gut Needs Help
If you have any of the following, then your gut is in poor health and needs attention:
- Osteoporosis

Overhauling my Pantry is One Important Facet That Healed my Hashimotos
You may not know my whole healing journey {if you want to know in-depth – click here}, but I will share a snippet of it for you now.
I was suicidal, in excruciating pain every day and night and the eczema all over my body brought me to tears at all hours of the day. My Hashimoto’s was out of control and my body was literally dying right before my eyes. I was a shriveled up 96-pound mess.
The number one way that I found a profound relief from my horrific Hashimoto’s symptoms and improvement in my thyroid numbers was through changing my diet and ultimately overhauling my pantry to house only healing foods. Initially, I started by doing the GAPS diet for 7 months and then switched to a modified Paleo/AIP/Whole Food diet and I’ve never looked back.
Food truly was my medicine!
