It’s a known fact that Hashimoto’s is more prevalent in women as opposed to men. In fact, women are diagnosed with it between four and ten times more than men are! 5 in 100 Americans are also diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. In 2010, 14 million Americans were diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and I suspect (12 years later) it could more than double that statistic. (1)
Some women feel scared with this diagnosis.
Some feel melancholy about it.
Some are naïve about it.
Some are like a deer in the headlights not knowing what to do.
Some get paralyzed with too much-contradicting information.
If you are newly diagnosed with Hashimoto’s or trying to navigate an older diagnosis, read on as this article will help you decipher exactly what to educate yourself about as well as things you’ll want to do to put it into remission.
What to Do with Your Hashimoto’s Diagnosis
A new diagnosis, or dealing with a diagnosis that you’ve had for years now but you’re not getting better can be intensely frustrating and discouraging.
That’s why as a fellow Hashimoto’s warrior, and Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I wanted to put together a comprehensive article with resources to direct you about exactly how to remit your Hashimoto’s symptoms and potentially even eliminate your Hashimoto’s antibodies.
What is Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis?
First, you’ll need to educate yourself about exactly what Hashimoto’s is. One thing I did not do well in 2007 when I got diagnosed was to educate myself about what Hashimoto’s is so I could become my own advocate. I know that if I would have my outcome and the immense suffering I dealt with over the years would have been drastically different. So don’t make the same mistake I did. It took a lot longer for me to heal because of this!
Here is the first post I want you to read so that you can have a deep understanding of exactly what Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis is. Click the image or the link below.

Root Causes of Hashimoto’s
Now that you know what Hashimoto’s is, it’s critical that you understand that there are direct root causes that trigger this disease. In order to fully heal, your root causes have to be discovered and addressed. If you don’t take the time to address them, then what happens is you simply mask your symptoms and don’t get well from the inside out.
I have put together this post all about the root causes of the autoimmune condition, Hashimoto’s. Please go ahead and read it by clicking the image or the link below.

Steps to Take to Heal From Hashimoto’s
While there is not one size fits all, the fact is that as humans, our bodies all have the same systems. What I mean by that is we all have a digestive system, a cardiovascular system, an immune system, a neurological system, etc.
We also all have the same organs. Each human being has a pancreas, heart, intestines, colon, muscles, bones, brain, adrenal glands, kidneys, lungs, etc.
That means that we all need to keep those systems and organs (as well as cells) in tip-top shape and, if they’re not in good shape because of disease, we need to divert attention to getting them well again. That’s where the steps to take to heal Hashimoto’s come in.

Lab Testing
There is no doubt that during your thyroid and immune system healing journey, you will be getting blood work done. It’s really important that you first, know which labs you need to get. (Hint – it’s WAY more than TSH). Second, you need to know what these labs mean so that not only your doctor can interpret them, but you can as well. That’s part of becoming your own advocate.
I put together an entire post about what tests to get, what the tests mean and what ideal results need to look like. You can read that by clicking the image or the link below.

Doctor Won’t Run Lab Tests
If your doctor won’t run the lab tests mentioned in the post you just read, there is a way to get your own lab tests at home.
I put together a post that will give you all the details you need to do this. You can read it by clicking the image or the link below.
