I don’t know about you but I always crave a drink that is warm and satisfying when the weather gets cooler.
Over the years, I have learned to adapt drinks that I used to love in my unhealthier days to a healthier version that’s not going to spike my blood sugar but instead, is going to nourish my body.
That’s why I developed this simple Chai Cinnamon Roll Latte recipe.
It’s super easy to make and you can enjoy it hot or iced. Sometimes during those crazy fall days here, one day will be cold and gloomy and another will be warmer and sunny which is why I love to have both options.
Let’s Talk About Healthy Ingredients
There are only four ingredients and yet this comfort drink packs a powerful flavor punch!
First, we’ll start with Dr. Amy Myers Cinnamon Roll Protein Powder*. Not all protein powders are created equal and honestly, I am VERY leery of most that are on the market. Not only is this high-quality powder made from grass-fed beef, but one scoop adds 21grams of protein to your drink. Paring that protein with a healthy fat like MCT oil (also in the protein powder) and you get lots of macronutrient love for stabilized blood sugar, and strong joints and bones. It adds such a creaminess to the Chai Latte!
Second, we’ll add the chai tea base. Now, there are many types of tea you can purchase out there. However, I ALWAYS recommend buying organic, heavy metal and mold tested. This is my favorite brand of tea. Chai is excellent for digestion, heart health and improved blood sugar and can even help fight nausea and give your immune system a boost.
Next, I use a non-dairy creamer. Choosing the healthiest one could be an entire blog post in and of itself. In fact, this is something I teach my Wellspring™ members about because not all creamers are created equal. If I could tolerate raw dairy, that would be my first choice. However, since I can’t at this point, I choose this one. I love that it has collagen and MCT oil in it. Supporting healthy bones and joints is super important and foregoing all the nasty preservatives like potassium sorbate, benzoate and carrageenan is vital.
Fourth, is all about the sweetener! You could use raw honey or not put anything in it and enjoy it non-sweet. For this recipe, I chose to use organic liquid stevia. It’s important that it’s organic because many forms of stevia, both powder and liquid, can have chemicals in them and even be processed with chlorine! This is the kind I use and this bottle will last me more than a year.
